About Wyreema Early Learning Centre

Our Philosophy

At Wyreema we provide a purposefully designed, warm, safe, inviting, and supportive semi-rural environment for children, families, educators, and the wider community. We acknowledge and respect individual family values and beliefs, authentically incorporating their culture into all aspects of our centre. We understand and appreciate the influence of the community and endeavour to reflect the diversity of the Toowoomba and surrounding Darling Downs area in our curriculum.

At Wyreema Early Learning Centre we utilise several core documents to ground our planning. Across all ages this includes the Early Years Learning Framework, “Belonging, Being & Becoming”.

This document explains how a child from even before birth is linked to family, community, culture and place. Through these relationships a child's development and learning takes place as they begin to explore, develop interests, create their own identity and make meaning of the world around them.

What Wyreema Early Learning is best known for

Set on a gorgeous two acre block we are spoilt with generous outdoor areas for all children, as well as an indoor play space for inclement weather, library, music, and for gross motor and sensory development. We have a full commercial kitchen, with dining room, outdoor café and picnic areas.

Holistic Education

For many years, early childhood professionals have realised that play is a vital element in the development of children and how they learn most effectively. The constructivist approach to teaching that we use encourages children to find out how the world works for themselves, not just as observers.

Learning Through Play

To nurture the children’s creativity and imagination, we make use of a wide range of materials. Items you might usually discard can be thoughtfully repurposed and given new life in our environmentally conscious programs

Encouraging Sustainability

School Readiness Program

At Wyreema Early Learning Centre we offer a unique school readiness program, developed in collaboration with local schools. Our Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) deliver programs that support children’s holistic learning, including social and emotional resilience and independence.

Through our unique program, children are exposed to short experiences with the social etiquette and expectations that school will require. Our teachers also create positive relationships with families and support children so they can be prepared for when they switch over to school.

We are happy to demonstrate this program further during a tour of our service.

National Quality Framework

In 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) was introduced across Australia to improve quality education and care in the Early Years.

Under the NQF banner sits our Children’s Services National Law and Regulations, The National Quality Standard (NQS) and the approved curriculums of Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) & Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).

Wyreema Early Learning Centre is licensed under this Law and we seek to exceed the National Quality Standards and its practices.

We undergo a Rating and Assessment process by the Department of Education. Wyreema Early Learning Centre is currently rated as Meeting the National Quality Standards.

Our Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) outlines our strengths and limitations, and a strategic approach to the critical reflective processes we undertake to seek improvement.
